Business Advisory Services Associate
The Associate in the BAS Department is primarily involved in the day-to-day field work on BAS engagements, including preparation of work papers. The Associate works in a collaborative environment with other members of our engagement team to develop and deliver creative solutions to client needs. In that role, the Associate will interact with members of the team at all levels and where feasible, will also interact with client personnel. As a member of the engagement team, qualified supervisory personnel will work with the Associate to provide proper training and guidance for assisting with the completion of assigned tasks. As the Associate begins his or her career, they are assigned mentors who will assist them throughout his or her career.
Essential Duties:
  • Prepare project work papers as required by the service line methodology. Follow the Firm policies and procedures and, under the direct supervision of an experienced BAS professional, help write the required deliverables to clients
  • Develop a foundation in BAS service line methodologies and testing techniques
  • Document understanding of accounting systems, transaction flows and begin to identify controls within a process. Review and test internal controls
  • Demonstrate awareness of budgets on engagements and the ability to work with Managers on keeping within those budgets
  • Become familiar with the Firm’s policies, procedures, manuals, forms, and relevant software
  • Maintain a good attitude
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, IT or general business with zero to two years of experience. Must be pursuing CPA, CISA, CIA or CISSP certification. Proficiency in use of computer and basic software applications, with above average written and verbal communication skills as well as successful problem-solving and analytical skills.

Business Advisory Services Senior Associate
The Senior Associate in the BAS Department is primarily involved in BAS projects with particular focus on preparation of complex and challenging phases of projects. In this role, the Senior Associate regularly resolves technical issues associated with those BAS preparation projects. The Senior Associate works in a collaborative environment with other members of our engagement team to develop and deliver creative solutions to client needs. In that role, the Senior Associate will interact with members of the team at all levels and will also interact with client personnel. As a member of the engagement team, qualified supervisory personnel will work with the Senior Associate to provide training and guidance in completion of assigned tasks.
Essential Duties:
  • Prepare and index work papers and perform various procedures under the specific methodology as established and monitored by the Service Line Lead
  • Responsible for all phases of multiple and complex BAS engagements, such as evaluation of internal controls, risk assessment, and operating effectiveness testing
  • Regularly demonstrate concise, accurate, and organized work paper technique
  • Bring unusual/significant issues to the Supervisor and /or Manager
  • Maintain job organization throughout the engagement
  • Build effective working relationships with client personnel and meet time constraints and client deadlines. Maintain contact with the client throughout the year; possess a thorough knowledge of the client base and all facets of the client’s business
  • Mentor Associates and provide performance related information to Supervisors and Managers for the content of engagement evaluations
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards
  • Comply with the Firm’s policies, procedures, manuals, forms, and relevant software
  • Responsible for staying within budget on engagements
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree with an emphasis in accounting, IT or general business. Minimum of one to three years of related experience, preferably in public accounting, with demonstrated progression in complexity of BAS tasks. Must be actively pursuing CPA, CISA, CIA or CISSP certification. Proficiency in use of computer and basic software applications, with above average written and verbal communication skills, as well as successful problem-solving and analytical skills.

Business Advisory Services Supervisor
The Supervisor in the BAS Department will work with the engagement team to plan engagement objectives and the BAS strategy. The Supervisor will participate in the performance of BAS procedures, with particular focus on complex, judgmental, and specialized issues. The Supervisor works in a collaborative environment with other members of our engagement team to develop and deliver creative solutions to client needs. In that role, the Supervisor will interact with members of the team at all levels and will also interact with client personnel. As a member of the engagement team, the Supervisor will work with Senior and Staff Associates to provide training and guidance in completion of assigned tasks.
Essential Duties:
  • Plan and supervise all components of BAS engagements with varying degrees of complexity
  • Bring unusual and significant issues to the Manager
  • Responsible for maintaining proper realization and keeping the engagement within budget
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s business and become a “functional expert” in the area
  • Setup project workpapers in McGladrey and CMS
  • Prepare and index work papers and perform various procedures under the specific methodology as established and monitored by the Service Line Lead
  • Consistently demonstrate concise, accurate, and organized work paper technique
  • Maintain job organization throughout the engagement
  • Anticipate and address client concerns and problems promptly as they arise
  • Build effective working relationships with client personnel and meet time constraints and client deadlines
  • Mentor Senior and Staff Associates and provide performance related information to complete engagement evaluations
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards and become proficient at researching and writing issue memos
  • Comply with the Firm’s policies, procedures, manuals, forms, and relevant software
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s with an emphasis in accounting, IT or general business. CPA, CISA, CIA or CISSP certification preferred. Minimum of three to five years of related experience preferably in business advisory services, and demonstrated progression in complexity of BAS engagements and leadership abilities. Proficient in use of computer and basic software applications, with above average written and verbal communication skills as well as successful problem-solving and analytical skills.

Business Advisory Services Manager
The Manager in the BAS Department is the liaison with the client and the professional staff and is responsible for the simultaneously management of multiple projects. The Manager is responsible for scheduling, staffing, and coordinating the workflow. The Manager develops and delivers creative solutions to client needs. In that role, the Manager will lead members of the team at all levels and will also interact with client personnel. As a leader of the engagement team, the Manager develops and provides training and guidance to the staff for completion of assigned tasks.
Essential Duties:
  • Supervises and maintains control of multiple projects and assignments including work scheduling, supervision of staff, billing, and realization of profitability
  • Serves as the primary contact with the client during the project and is responsible for quality of the work performed and client satisfaction
  • Conducts reviews of project scoping, timeline, budget and staff workpapers
  • Signs off on project workpapers in McGladrey
  • Works with clients to deepen and strengthen the relationship with the entire Firm and actively seeks to provide additional services, as dictated by the needs of the client.
  • Prepares for and participates actively in Firm sponsored and outside training; keeps current on general business and technical issues
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and motivates supervisors, senior and staff associates and writes performance evaluations
  • Takes an active role in professional organization activities and serves as an instructor in the Firm’s internal CPE Program
  • Participates actively as a member of a niche service, marketing team
  • Participates, or actively seeks participation in appropriate community, business, and professional organizations
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in accounting, IT or general business. Minimum five to ten years' experience delivering professional services in business advisory services, serving a middle market client base. Demonstrated progression in complexity of BAS engagements and leadership ability. Proactive, resourceful, and proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships with CFOs, CIOs, controllers, and small to mid-sized business owners. CPA, CISA, CIA or CISSP certification is required. Experience recruiting, training, and mentoring professional level staff.

Business Advisory Services Senior Manager
The Senior Manager in the BAS Department is the liaison with the client, the Firm and the professional staff, and is responsible for the simultaneously management of multiple engagements. The Senior Manager is responsible for oversight and coordination of scheduling and staffing of all engagements for a client. The Senior Manager develops and delivers creative solutions to client needs. In that role, the Senior Manager will coordinate with the Managers and Supervisors of all the project teams and will also interact with client personnel. As a leader of the engagement team, the Senior Manager develops and provides training and guidance to the Managers and Supervisors for completion of assigned tasks.
Essential Duties:
  • Demonstrates clear leadership skills such as initiative, vision, and acceptance of responsibility
  • Supervises and maintains control of multiple Engagements and assignments including work scheduling, supervision of staff, billing, and realization of profitability
  • Reviews all proposals and billings for each client
  • Serves as the primary contact with the client during the engagement and is responsible for quality of the work performed and client satisfaction for all projects for the respective clients
  • Conducts reviews of engagement scoping, timeline, budget and Manager and/or Supervisor status reports
  • Reviews all correspondence to senior management, Board of Directors and Audit Committees
  • Regularly meets with senior management, Boards of Directors and Audit Committees as required
  • Signs off on engagement workpapers in McGladrey
  • Works with clients to deepen and strengthen the relationship with the entire Firm and actively seeks to provide additional services, as dictated by the needs of the client.
  • Expected to have a network of business referrals and to actively participate in bringing new clients to the Firm
  • Participates in regular activities pursuant to his or her personal marketing plan
  • Actively builds and manages professional contacts through membership in professional and community organizations
  • Prepares for and participates actively in Firm sponsored and outside training; keeping current on general business and technical issues
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and motivates managers, senior and staff associates and write performance evaluations
  • Take an active role in professional organization activities and serve as an instructor in the Firm’s internal CPE Program
  • Participates actively as a member of a niche service, marketing team

CPA, CISA, CIA or CISSP certification required. Experience recruiting, training, and mentoring professional level staff.
