Our Irvine, California office is seeking to hire a Tax Partner.

If you are a CPA and have a minimum of 10 years public accounting work experience, we would like to speak to you about joining our nationally recognized firm. Successful candidates will possess experience working with middle market clients and have the ability to think strategically in assisting the organization and management team, as well as the ability to sell additional tax services to clients.

Our ideal candidate will have experience in federal and multi-state tax compliance, IRS representation and tax planning/research. Ideal areas of concentration include: S Corps, Partnerships/LLCs, FAS 109, FIN 48, International exposure, M&A and demonstrate strong leadership & technical ability.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and industry/law. The successful candidate may currently be a Partner in a public accounting firm who has a focus on mid-sized business clients or a partner-track director with a focus on the middle market and who possesses the skills necessary to transition into a Partner role. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of practice building and management, and will be an experienced and effective manager of professionals at all levels.

Tax Supervisor or Manager

SUMMARY
Manages and researches multiple tax projects. Responsible for scheduling, staffing and coordinating workflow. Reviews individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and nonprofit federal, state, or local tax returns. Develops and trains staff by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
  • Reviews and supervises the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary and nonprofit tax returns.
  • Researches and assists staff with complex tax questions.
  • Reviews complex field tax provisions.
  • Identifies client service needs.
  • Identifies tax planning ideas for clients.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of tax planning and preparation software.
  • Prepares and reviews protests, etc.
  • Provides client service advice on tax and other business matters.
  • Represents clients before taxing bodies.
  • Adheres to time budgets.
  • Markets the Firm by attending functions and events that promotes the Firm with clients, potential clients and peers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree from four year college or university; or four to ten years related experience and/or training. Master’s degree in tax or accounting a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPA preferred.



Audit Supervisor & Audit Manager

HEIN & ASSOCIATES LLP, one of the top 100 public accounting firms in the nation, is seeking experienced Audit Managers and Audit Supervisors for our Irvine, CA office.

FUNCTION
Managers and Supervisors in the Audit department are the liaison with the client and the professional staff and are responsible for the management of multiple engagements simultaneously. Our Managers are responsible for scheduling, staffing and coordinating the workflow. Our Managers and Supervisors develop and deliver creative solutions to client needs. In that role they will lead members of the team at all levels, and will also interact with client personnel. As leaders of the engagement teams, our Managers and Supervisors develop and provide training and guidance to the staff for completion of assigned tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES
All members of the engagement team are expected to demonstrate proficiency in each of the general categories shown below. For each general category, the responsibility of our Managers is indicated:

  • Supervise and maintain control of multiple engagements and assignments including work scheduling, supervision of staff, billing and realization of profitability.
  • Serves as the primary contact with the client during the engagement and is responsible for quality of the work performed and client satisfaction.
  • Conducts reviews of financial statements, disclosures and other complex accounting matters.
  • Works with clients to deepen and strengthen the relationship with the entire firm and actively seeks to provide additional services, as dictated by the needs of the client.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.
Full-Service Results.
Our Managers and Supervisors must articulate an understanding of specific capabilities of other disciplines within the Firm, and function well on interdisciplinary teams.

New Business Acquisition.
The Manager will have laid the foundation for the development of new business by engaging in the following activities:
  • Participate in regular activities pursuant to his/her personal marketing plan.
  • Actively participates in the Firm’s marketing initiative and prepares and delivers presentations to prospective clients and participates in niche activities.
  • Actively builds and manages professional contacts through membership in professional and community organizations.
Staff Development.
Our Managers and Supervisors are expected to pursue his or her own self development, as well as the development of other team members by engaging in the following activities:
  • Prepare for and participate actively in Firm-sponsored and/or outside training, keeping current on general business and technical issues.
  • Use a variety of resources to learn about and study business developments and technical innovations.
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, motivate staff accounts and supervisors and writes engagement evaluations.
  • Provide advice and direction to staff accountants and interns.
  • Takes an active role in AICPA activities and serves as an instructor in the Firm’s internal CPE program.
  • Develop positive relationships with others in the office.
  • Participate in the office recruiting program, developing a rapport with candidates. Technical, Industry or Functional Specialization.
  • Develop awareness of technical, industry and functional programs available to professionals within the Firm.
  • Participate actively as a member of a niche service/marketing team. Professional/Community Involvement.
  • Participate, or actively seek participation in appropriate community/business/professional organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree/PPA

Experience:
The Manager position requires a minimum six to ten years’ experience delivering professional services in public accounting, serving a middle market client base. The supervisor position requires three to six years experience. Demonstrated progression in complexity of auditing engagements and leadership ability is also required, as well as a Proactive, resourceful and proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships with CFO’s, Controllers and small-to mid-sized business owners.

Skills and licenses:
CPA certification is generally required.
Proficient in use of computers and basic software applications.
Above average written and verbal communication skills.
Successful problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience recruiting, training and mentoring professional level staff.
