In addition to our industry niche focus groups, which serve as touchstones for our professionals to share industry-related information, we offer a mentoring program to new staffers. The program pairs new employees with an experienced professional to provide both work-related and personal career guidance. The mentor is someone that the employee does not normally work with on client engagements, thus providing the objectivity so essential to the relationship. The pairing lasts for the full extent of both professionals’ tenure with the firm. As you move through different levels from staff through senior manager; you are able to continue to share and learn from your mentor’s experiences.Mentors provide important counsel to their mentees as the young professional develops goals for annual performance reviews and planning sessions with partners in the firm. As they get to know one another, the mentor can offer insights into specialty areas (by industry or technical expertise) that might be most appropriate for their mentee. Monthly lunch meetings allow the mentor and mentee to discuss these issues away from the pressures and interruptions of the office. Entrusted as confidential advisors, mentors provide a safe environment for sharing opinions and ideas.
We also offer world-class, specialized training to all of our professional staff. The scope of training ranges from the teaching of basic tax and audit methodology to specialized, supervisory level and above, on issues such as internal controls and mergers and acquisitions.
We also offer formal industry-oriented training in our specialty practice areas. Our most significant industry practice areas are: public companies, the energy industry, the manufacturing and distribution industries, the information and communications industries, the real estate industry and litigation and business valuation services. This training may be conducted in-house or offsite.
In addition to technical skills and specialized industry-oriented training, advanced level courses may focus on strategic business planning, presentations and sales.
